ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Wayne State men's swimming and diving team fell at Grand Valley State,
173.5-126.5, in a GLIAC dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
Joaquin Abascal Gallegos posted several impressive times, improving his NCAA “B” qualifiers in the 200 individual medley (1:55.06) and the 100 breaststroke (57.63), and achieving a new “B” cut in the 200 backstroke (1:52.11). He finished in first place in all three events.
Abascal Gallegos also swam the second leg of the second-place 200 medley relay (1:35.14) with
Jimmy Lee,
Andrey Seryy, and
Nathan Hesche.
Seryy won the 50 free (20.39) and achieved a “B” cut with a second-place time of 50.70 in the 100 butterfly. He also led off the first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:25.74), joining Hesche,
Matt Victor, and
Kristian Larsen.
In the 100 free, Larsen tied for first place with a time of 48.35. He also finished second in the 200 free (1:45.02) and 500 free (4:47.05).
Victor won the 200 breaststroke (2:13.86), while
Cody Narlock and
Jeff Grant finished second in one-meter (243.40) and three-meter (279.65) diving, respectively.
Wayne State will travel to Lewis University for a GLIAC dual meet next Friday and Saturday.
