Clinton Twp., Mich. – The Wayne State University women's tennis team remained a perfect 8-0 following its
9-0 shutout of visiting Michigan Tech University (3-6, 3-6 GLIAC) on Sunday at Peachtree Tennis Club.
The victory sets the stage for a battle of unbeatens when WSU hosts Northwood University (5-0, 5-0 GLIAC) on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
After sweeping doubles play, the Warriors took all six singles matches.
Senior
Kristina Goranskaya (Thornhill, Ontario / Northview Heights Secondary School) (12-1 overall) and freshman
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) (10-1 overall) continued their winning ways and remained undefeated (8-0) in GLIAC singles play. Goranskaya bested Natalia Lebedeva at one singles, 6-2, 6-4, while Moore scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kira Eck in the three slot.

Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) also remained unbeaten (7-0) in conference doubles competition, defeating Ploy Suthijindawong and Chelsea Uganski at two doubles, 8-4.
In four singles, Briand (9-2 overall, 6-1 GLIAC) went on to pick up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Uganski.
While the duo of Goranskaya and
Daniela Garcia-Diaz (Cali (Valle, Colombia) / Gimnasio, Britanico) (9-2 overall) escaped with a 9-7 win over Lebedeva and Eck in one doubles, sophomore
Tanya Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville) and freshman
Haleigh McPeek (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) (6-2 overall) won by default at three doubles. Joseph also won by default in her six singles match.
Gracia-Diaz (8-2 overall, 6-1 GLIAC) tallied a 6-2, 0-6, (10-7) triumph over Suthijindawong at No. 2 singles, while sophomore
Jessica Kruczek (Detroit, Mich. / Lakeview) handed Jacqueline Kukulski a 6-2, 6-2 setback in the No. 5 spot.
