Findlay, Ohio - The 37th-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team (14-5, 6-1 GLIAC) scored a
9-0 road victory over the University of Findlay on Friday afternoon.
Oscar Gamarra (Guayaquil, Ecuador), who is unbeaten in singles and doubles in the last five matches, again triumphed in No. 3 spots. Gamarra achieved a 6-3, 6-2 win over David Hebda, and teamed with
Alec Attala (Clinton Twp., Mich.), defeating Josh Smedley and Bryan Little, 8-3.
Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont.) and
Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich.) teamed in No. 2 doubles, and trailed 4-1 in the match before outscoring Kyle Collette and Yashwant Pulumati 7-1 the rest of the way, earning an 8-2 decision.
Gill scored a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Pulumati in No. 2 singles, while Joseph beat Smedley in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
In No. 1 singles,
Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) came away on top, finishing ahead of Collette, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.
Ducret paired with
Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich.) in the No. 2 doubles spot to defeat David Hebda and David Brooks, 8-2.
Jon Groszek (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) bested Brooks in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and
Matt Fisher (Shelby Twp., Mich.) triumphed in his No. 6 singles match with Little, 6-0, 6-2.
The Warriors visit Tiffin University tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
