Tiffin, Ohio - Following its 
8-1 victory at Tiffin University, the 37th-ranked Wayne State men's tennis team (15-5, 7-1 GLIAC) has set the stage to make history when it battles Northwood University on the road this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. 
The Warriors sit a half-game back of the Timberwolves in the conference standings and a win in Midland would earn the programs first GLIAC Championship since 1981. 
On Saturday, the Warriors swept doubles play and won five of six from Dragons in singles. 
In No. 1 singles, 
Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) defeated Luiz Cavalho, 6-0, 6-1. Ducret and 
Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich.) teamed to earn a hard-fought 9-7 triumph over Brian Coffman and Robert Ball. 
Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont.) achieved a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ball in No. 2 singles and paired with 
Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich.) in No. 1 doubles, besting Cavalho and Andres Torres, 8-2.
 
Joseph went on to beat Torres, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 4 position. 
Jon Groszek (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) won a thrilling No. 5 singles match over Leonid Vladimirov, 6-1, 2-6, 10-5, while 
Eric Szydlowski (Canton, Mich.) earned a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Craig Martin in No. 6 singles. 
Oscar Gamarra (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and 
Alec Attala (Clinton Twp., Mich.) scored an 8-5 victory in No. 3 doubles. Gamarra went on to suffer a 6-3, 7-6 setback in No. 3 singles. It was his first loss
