Men's Swimming Defeats Findlay, 108-84


FINDLAY, Ohio - In the final dual meet of the season before the GLIAC Championships, the Wayne State University men's swimming team defeated the University of Findlay, 108-84, on Friday night.

Six Warriors took first-place finishes in the individual events which followed the meet-opening 200 medley relay.  Wayne State's top combination of Kristian Larsen, Piotr Jachowicz, Nathan Hesche and Andrey Seryy turned in a time of 1:34.78.

Lucas Fernandez Vilanova (1:47.33) and Cameron Fryzel (1:49.76) went one-two in the 200 free, and Seryy finished first in the 50 free (20.55).

Other victories came from Joaquin Abascal Gallegos in the 200 individual medley (1:54.23), Hesche in the 100 butterfly (50.84), Kyle Taylor in the 100 free (48.51) and Larsen in the 500 free (4:46.74).

The Wayne State diving corps did not travel to Findlay in preparation for the WSU Diving Invitational on Saturday morning at the Matthaei.

Wayne State will look to defend its conference title as the four-day GLIAC Championships begin Wednesday, Feb. 8 in Jenison, Mich.
