FINDLAY, Ohio - The Wayne State University women's swimming team defeated the University of Findlay, 132-99, on Friday night in the final dual meet before the GLIAC Championships in two weeks.

Carol Azambuja and Kayla Scott won two individual events apiece.  The two swimmers faced off on two separate 200 medley relay teams which finished .52 seconds apart in the opening event.

The first-place combination of Cristina Busquets Garcia, Scott, Alex Malfroid and Marissa Swartz (1:52.21) narrowly finished ahead of Azambuja, Kei Cze Prentis, Gloria Martinez Perez, and Catherine Leix (1:52.73).

Scott was victorious in the 50 freestyle (25.15) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.49).  Azambuja won the 200 individual medley (2:10.51) and the 100 backstroke (59.23).

In one of the closest races of the night, Swartz out-touched UF's Kate Fisher by .84 seconds to win the 1000 freestyle (11:02.53).

Ashley Corriveau, who won the 100 freestyle (53.78), also anchored the first-place 400 free relay with Prentis, Leix, and Malfroid (3:38.46).

The Wayne State diving corps did not travel to Findlay in preparation for the WSU Diving Invitational on Saturday morning at the Matthaei.

Wayne State will look to defend its conference title as the four-day GLIAC Championships begin Wednesday, Feb. 8 in Jenison, Mich.
