Columbus, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's basketball squad completed a weekend sweep of its trip through Ohio with an 86-68 triumph at Ohio Dominican University Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC, while the Panthers fall to 3-3 overall and 0-2 GLIAC.

Junior guard Mike Hollingsworth (Utica, Mich.) led WSU with a game-high 25 points, which included double-digit point totals in each half (14 in the opening 20 minutes, 11 after intermission).  Junior guard Chene Phillips (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) added 18 points, while senior guard Cole Prophet (Sandusky, Ohio) contributed 16 points.  Junior forward Jamar Ragland (Detroit, Mich./Loyola) tallied 11 points off the bench.

Morgan Jones led the Panthers with 20 points but was 7-of-16 from the floor.  Bobby Stauffer had a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Warriors started strong grabbing a 7-1 lead and increased it to nine points (14-5) just five minutes into the contest.  WSU had seven second-chance points and held ODU to 1-of-7 from the floor in the opening minutes.  After four straight Panther points, Prophet drained his second consecutive triple.  WSU had its biggest lead until late in the first half at 23-11 (12 points) following a fast break lay-up by Hollingsworth at the 10:03 mark.

WSU led 42-32 at the break after recording a 9-3 scoring edge in points off turnovers and shooting 46 percent (13-of-28) from the floor compared to 40 percent (12-of-30) for the Panthers in the first half.

The Warriors increased their lead to 13 points (52-39) five minutes into the second half, but Ohio Dominican responded with an 18-6 run to pull within one at 58-57 with 8:08 remaining.

WSU answered with a 5-0 run on a conventional three-point play by senior forward Ian Larkin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) and a pair of free throws by Hollingsworth.  ODU's John Trew sank two foul shots to make it a four-point game (63-59) with 6:56 remaining, before the Warriors went on a 10-0 run to seal the win.  Phillips had five points, while Hollingsworth contributed three points during the run.

Wayne State made five of six free throw attempts in the final 80 seconds along with a basket by Phillips at the end of a shot clock session to complete the scoring.

WSU returns to the Matthaei for its GLIAC home opener on Wednesday against Ashland.  Tip-off is slated for 6:07 p.m. since the game will be televised on Comcast/Xfinity channel 900 with Ryan Ermanni, Rob Beard and Joe Abramson serving as the announcers.
