Detroit -- The Midwest Region's eighth-ranked Wayne State men's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the GLIAC (9-6 overall) with a
9-0 victory over Lake Superior (4-9, 0-4 GLIAC).
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the coaches moved the match inside the Multi-Purpose Facility. It was the first-ever match held indoors on WSU's campus.
The Warriors' first doubles combination of
Aman Gill and
Melvin Joseph won a hard-fought match against the Laker pair of Felipe Baptista and Joao Gaberiel-Oliveira, 9-7.
Gill rejoined the singles line-up and defeated LSSU's Travis Toth 6-2, 6-0 at the second flight. Joseph and
Jason Chen only dropped one game each in their matches at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
The Warriors return to the road to face GLVC rivals Indianapolis on Friday and Lewis on Saturday.
