Warriors took two of three at doubles but fell short in singles against Flyers.

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Wayne State men's tennis team (10-7 overall) wrapped up their two-game trip through the GLVC with a 5-4 loss at 37th-ranked Lewis University (12-2) Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors jumped to a good start, taking two of three doubles flights from the Flyers. The teams of Michael FitzGerald and Jason Chen and Oscar Gamarra and Thomas Ducret gave WSU the 2-1 lead.

At singles, however, the Flyers would take four of the six flighs. Melvin Joseph nearly tipped the scales to the Warriors, however. He rallied in the second set to force a third set tiebreaker. Lewis' Jesse Hardacre won the tiebreaker 10-6 to win the match (6-1, 3-6, 10-6). Chen also won in a tiebreaker set at fifth singles over Michael Wojnarowski (7-6, 4-6, 10-6). Jon Groszek posted the other singles win for the Warriors.

Wayne State will return to GLIAC action on the road at Ferris State Apr. 5.
