ROCHESTER, Mich.
-- Junior Kei Cze Prentis won two individual events Friday as the Wayne State University swimming and diving team competed against Oakland University at OU Aquatic Center. The Warriors fell 172-123 to the Golden Grizzlies, a Division I squad.

Prentis (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica Eisenhower) won the 200 freestyle by .01 second over Oakland's Emily Ludema. She earned a time of 1:56.55 to trim almost two seconds off her seed time. Prentis also won the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 53.11. She earned a third top-three finish by placing third in the 100 IM with a time of 1:00.93.

Senior Carol Azambuja (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was second in the 100 backstroke, posting a NCAA "B" cut qualifying time in the process (57.44). Azambuja was also second in the 100 IM for WSU, finishing with a time of 1:00.22.

Sophomore Elly Maleski (Cedar, Mich. / Traverse City West) won the 50 backstroke, touching the wall with a time of 27.23. Freshman Emily Maraskine (Midland, Mich. / Dow) placed third in the 50 backstroke (27.72). The pair were third and fourth, respectively, in the 50 freestyle, as Maleski had a time of 25.32 and Maraskine touched in 25.53.

Senior Kayla Scott (Rochester, Mich. / Adams) finished second in the 50 breaststroke (30.45) and third in the 50 butterfly (27.32).

Sophomore Mallory Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.) placed third in the 1000 freestyle (10:56.41), while sophomore Veronica Loock (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) was third in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 5:21.07.

Senior Nicole Kudla (Lake Orion, Mich.) finished third in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.45.

In diving, freshman Elizabeth Rawlings (Armada, Mich. / Romeo) placed second on the three-meter board (260.05). Senior Paige Kortman (Holland, Mich.) was second on the one-meter board (241.50) and third in the three-meter competition (251.02). Rawlings has previously surpassed the NCAA qualifying standard on the three-meter board, while Kortman has done the same on the one-meter board.

Sophomore Alex Geddis-McCririe (Brighton, Mich.) was third in the one-meter competition (216.45), while freshman Holly Krill (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Central) placed fourth on the three-meter board (233.92).

Wayne State placed second in two relays. The WSU 200 medley quartet of Maleski, Scott, Azambuja and freshman Emily Heitchue (Royal Oak, Mich.) earned a time of 1:48.00. The team of Scott, Maraskine, Heitchue and Azambuja was also second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.16.

Wayne State returns to the pool at 1 p.m. Saturday for its first home meet of the season, hosting Ashland University at the Matthaei.
