Houghton, Mich. -  The Wayne State men's tennis team (7-5, 4-1 GLIAC) dropped it's first league match of the season on Saturday at Michigan Tech (13-6 4-3 GLIAC) 5 -4. The Warriors had begun 4-0 in GLIAC play behind close battles to date but came up just short in this one.

The Huskies took a 3-0 lead after doubles play and rested back on that commanding lead heading into singles play. The Warriors were close in the top doubles flight as Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont. / Assumption College HS) and Trey Keating (Troy, Mich. / Troy) fell in a 9-7 decision in a very close match.

Tech would also take the top singles match 6-4, 6-2. After that the Warriors took charge in the individual portion of the days matches. Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) and Jason Chen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) would win in straight sets in the number three and six spots respectively.

Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) grabbed a crucial 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at the two spot and Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) was a winner at fifth singles 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), 10-6.

The Warriors will welcome in Ferris State on Wednesday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm as they continue GLIAC play.
