YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team swam in its final full meet of the regular season Friday, falling at Division I opponent Eastern Michigan University, 178-122.
The Warriors won seven of the 16 women's events during the dual meet. WSU also swam below NCAA qualifying marks individually and as a relay team in three different events.

Carol Azambuja earned a NCAA "B" cut time of 1:45.60 to place first overall.
Junior
Kristina Novichenko (Seversk, Russia) won three individual events. She swam a "B" cut qualifying time of 10:11.89 to win the 1000 freestyle by more than 23 seconds. Novichenko also topped the "A" cut mark in the 200 butterfly, breaking the two-minute mark and winning with a time of 1:59.67. Her third victory came in the 100 butterfly, winning by more than a second in 55.80.
Azambuja (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won the 200 backstroke by more than two seconds, touching the wall in 2:03.16. She was also Wayne State's top finisher in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.93.
Maleski (Cedar, Mich. / Traverse City West) outswam the field to finish first in the 100 backstroke (58.24).
Martinez Perez (Merida, Spain) won the 200 IM in 2:11.16. She also placed third in the 100 freestyle (53.51), while junior
Kei Cze Prentis (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica Eisenhower) was fourth in 53.77. Junior
Marissa Swartz (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.00.
Scott (Rochester, Mich. / Adams) was WSU's top finisher in the 100 breaststroke, placing third in 1:06.09. Sophomore
Hannah Loesch (Harbor Springs, Mich.) was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.99. Scott earned a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, recording a time of 2:26.69.
Freshman diver
Elizabeth Rawlings (Armada, Mich. / Romeo) finished second on the one-meter board. She had a score of 260.63. Senior
Paige Kortman (Holland, Mich. / Holland) was fourth on the one-meter board (247.65) and had the top WSU score on the three-meter springboard (242.86).
Sophomore
Veronica Loock (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) and senior
Kelsey Dischler (Macomb, Mich. / Henry Ford II) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 500 freestyle. Loock had a time of 5:23.26 and Dischler touched in 5:23.90.
WSU was second in the 400 freestyle relay, as the squad of Prentis, Scott, freshman
Emily Heitchue (Royal Oak, Mich. / Royal Oak) and Maleski combined for a time of 3:35.93.
The Warriors will host the two-day WSU Diving Invitational, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, before gearing up for the GLIAC Championships, which are Feb. 12-15 in Geneva, Ohio.
