Men's Swimming and Diving Claims Victory over Calvin College

Warriors win 137-101 over Calvin.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team earned a convincing victory over Calvin College on Friday in a dual meet held at Matthaei Natatorium.

The Warriors in their first home meet of the season earned a 137-101 victory over Calvin.

Freshman Bob Stephenson-Ganner (Newark, U.K.) won both the 1650 freestyle and 500 freestyle. He won the 1650 in a time of 16:35.60 and 500 in 4:53.35.

Till Barthel (Hanover, Germany) won the 50 freestyle in 21.31 and took second in the 100 backstroke (53.64).

Juan David Molina Perez (Medellin, Colombia / Liceo Salazar y Herrera) claimed victory in the 100 backstroke in :52.65. and Mitch Bohr (Novi, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) placed third 400 IM 4:30.72.

Ben Winn (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) claimed second in the 50 freestyle (22.43) and Jack Dischler (Macomb, Mich. / Henry Ford II) took second in the 500 freestyle (5:00.82).

Tyler Roshak (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) won the 100 freestyle in a time of :48.11 and took second on the 200 freestyle (1:47.43).

Soren Holm (Rodovre, Denmark / Falkonergardens Gymnasium) placed second in the 100 freestyle (:48.63) and Joshua Schacht took third (:48.70).

Eric Gensheimer (Farmington, Mich.) took second in the 100 butterfly (:53.11) and Georgiy Yanin (Moscow, Russia / Berkley) came in third 55:44.

In diving, Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) won both the one-meter and three-meter dives. He scored 329.10 on the one-meter and 358.43 on the three-meter.

Scott Jessup (Milford, Mich.) took second in both the one-meter and three-meter dive with scores of 283.57 and 269.33. Freshman Khayman Jones (Adrian, Mich.) claimed third in both the one-meter and three-meter with scores of 249.15 and 252.68.

Wayne State also took victory in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Molina Perez, Holm, Jason Hansen (Grand Blanc, Mich.), Gensheimer, recording a time of 1:35.71.

The Warriors return to the pool again Saturday, swimming in a meet at Ashland beginning at 1 p.m.
