DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team defeated Ashland in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at Messerly Natatorium.
The Warriors defeated the Eagles 132-103.
Freshman
Bob Stephenson-Ganner (Newark, U.K.) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 9:50.80 and came in second place in the 500 freestyle (4:51.01).
Juan David Molina Perez (Medellin, Colombia / Liceo Salazar y Herrera) claimed victory in the 200 IM in a time of 1:59.38 and placed third in the 500 freestyle (4:53.02).
Eric Gensheimer (Farmington Hills, Mich.) also took first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.94.
Lucas Fernandez Vilanova (Valencia, Spain / IES Federica Montseny) touched the wall in 1:55.42 to place first in the 200 backstroke.
Jack Dischler (Macomb, Mich. / Henry Ford II)placed third in the 1000 freestyle (10:31.09).
Till Barthel (Hanover, Germany) came in second place in the 200 freestyle (1:49.22) and
Zach Zylstra (Zeeland, Mich. / Zeeland East) came in right behind Barthel at third place (1:50.68).
Tyler Roshak (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) touched the wall at 2:02.37 in the 200 butterfly to earn second place while
Mitch Bohr came in third with a time of 2:02.14.
In diving,
Dylan Szegedi (Oregon, Ohio / St. Francis de Sales) won both the one-meter and three-meter dives. He scored 255.67 on the one-meter and 248.25 on the three-meter.
Scott Jessup (Milford, Mich.) took second in both the one-meter and three-meter dive with scores of 230.85 and 213.97. Freshman
Khayman Jones (Adrian, Mich.) claimed third in both the one-meter and three-meter with scores of 218.77 and 202.80.
Wayne State also took victory in the 400 medley relay. The quartet of Molina Perez,
Soren Holm(Rodovre, Denmark / Falkonergardens Gymnasium) Jason Hansen (Grand Blanc, Mich.), Barthel, recording a time of 4:00.11.
The Warriors return to the pool again Friday, swimming in at the Eastern Michigan Invitational beginning at 6 p.m.
