HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field team resumed competition on Saturday by participating in the Hillsdale Winter Opener.
Redshirt freshman
Jewel Wilson (Voorhees, N.J. / Eastern) won the triple jump with a meet record distance of 34-10.25 (10.62m).
Freshman
Rachel Kloski (Warren, Mich. / Fraser) garnered a second-place finish in the long jump at a distance of 15-07.00 (4.75m). WSU also claimed the next two spots as classmates
Sydney Vaughn (Canton, Ohio / South) and
Jessie Kluz (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Macomb MSTC) finished third and fourth, respectively with distances of 15-06.75 (4.74m) and 14-10.50 (4.53m).
Junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) captured a runner-up finish in the weight throw with a school record toss of 53-05.50 (16.29m).
Sophomore
Kierra Johnson (Flint, Mich. / Brandon) took home a second-place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 7.95.
Junior
Chelsea Johnson (Oxford, Mich.) placed second in the mile with a time of 5:14.89, while senior
Kayla Smade (Columbus, Mich. / St. Clair) was fourth in a time of 5:33.06.
Smade was WSU's top runner in the 800m event finishing second in a time of 2:25.29, with sophomore
Leah Coonrod (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Gull Lake) coming in fourth place with a time of 2:26.56.
Also recording podium finishes for Wayne State were Kluz in the high jump (5-03.00 / 1.60m) who tied for third; sophomore
Imani Bush (Canton, Ohio / South) in the 400m (1:02.54) race with a third-place finish; sophomore
Leah Ellis (Battle Creek, Mich. / Central) who finished third in the 600m with a time of 1:46.58; junior
Anne Okonowski (Dearborn, Mich. / Divine Child) with a third-place finish in the 1,000m (3:23.92); and the 4x400 relay quartet of Bush, sophomore
Dazmonique Carr (Lawnside, N.J. / Haddon Heights), sophomore
Payton Julian (Streetsboro, Ohio) and Ellis with a third-place time of 4:14.38.

Christina Kollien (Alpena, Mich.) in the 200m (12
th – 28.40), and freshman
Karrington Seals (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) in 60m hurdles (fourth – 9.12).
