BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its GLIAC All-Academic Excellence and All-Academic Teams for winter sports recently and the Wayne State University men's basketball program placed a total of four student-athletes on the two teams.
Sophomore
Oge Onwudiwe (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) was WSU's lone representative on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team. To be eligible for All-Academic Excellence Team honors, a student-athlete must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and may not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
Named to the All-Academic squad were juniors
Michael Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) and
Gavin Toma (Troy, Mich. / Southfield Christian), along with sophomore
Clark Bishop (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance). To be eligible for All-Academic Team accolades, a student-athlete must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.49 and may not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
Lewis and Toma were each honored for the second consecutive season with All-Academic accolades, while Bishop and Onwudiew were eligible for the first time this year.
