Four Men's Basketball Student-Athletes Garner CSC Academic All-District Honors

DETROIT -- Four members of the 2025-26 Wayne State University men's basketball team earned Academic All-District accolades from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

That quartet included junior Jordan Briggs (Muskegon, Mich.), sophomore Jalen Jenkins (Belleville, Mich. [Macomb C.C.])), junior Marshall Thorn (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth [Schoolcraft C.C.])), and redshirt sophomore Adam Ayrault (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North).

Briggs, now a two-time honoree, carries a 3.73 cumulative GPA while majoring in Marketing.  Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for the 2025-26 season, also for a second instance, the junior point guard received First Team All-GLIAC recognition as well.   Briggs, Wayne State's leading scorer, put up 18.4 points per game in GLIAC contests, which was good for fifth in the league.  The junior also ranked first in free throw percentage (.881), sixth in assists per game (3.2), seventh in minutes played (33.1), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6) and 11th in field goal percentage (.420).  Overall, he led the team in scoring a team-best 14 times, in rebounding thrice, in assists a team-high 15 times, in steals six times, in field goals made eight times, in three-pointers made a team-best 12 times, and in minutes played a team-high 17 times.  Scored in double figures 22 times, with eight games of at least 20 points, including a career-high 35 on Dec. 6 against Ferris State.

Jenkins, a first-year Warrior who was also featured on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for the 2025-26 campaign, carries a career 3.60 GPA in Nursing.  This season, the 6-3 guard saw action in all 27 games, including 10 starts (10 of his final 11 games played), while averaging 6.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game.  Jenkins shot the ball efficiently at all three levels including 48.9 percent from the field, 45.2 percent from behind the arc and 88.0 percent at the free throw lane, while scoring in double-figures four times.  The best of those four occasions came at Roosevelt on Feb. 19 when he poured in a career-high 20 points (9-of-14 FG) to go with eight dimes, three boards, one block, one steal, and only two turnovers.

Thorn, a first-year Warrior like Jenkins, was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team as part of his 3.73 cumulative GPA in Exercise and Sport Science.  The 6-7 big man appeared in all 27 of WSU's contests, 21 of which came as a starter, while putting up 3.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.  Thorn, who was efficient from the floor at 58.7 percent, also proved to be an asset on the defensive end where he accumulated 12 steals and seven blocks.  He garnered his 13th career double-double, but first at Wayne State, against Michigan Tech on Feb. 14 thanks to 12 points (season best) and 11 rebounds.  That effort marked the first of three in a row in which Thorn brought down 11 or more boards.

Now a two-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team, Ayrault played in all 27 games for Wayne State during the 2025-26 campaign, including one start on Feb. 14 against Michigan Tech.  In his second season on the court, the 6-4 slasher accounted for 4.4 points per game, 1.4 rebounds per contest, 19 total assists, 15 blocks, and 11 steals.  Ayrault shot 41.6 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from three-point land and 72.7 percent at the charity stripe.  His 119 total points scored included a trio of performances in double-figures, 11 against Redeemer on Dec. 20, 12 vs. Roosevelt on Jan. 17 (four off career high) and 11 against Lake Superior State on Feb. 26.
