KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Members of the Wayne State University women's track squad competed on Thursday and Friday at the Tennessee Relays Powered By Sea Ray.
During the hammer competition on Thursday, junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) recorded the second-best throw in school history at 50.37m (165-03), while freshman
Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) had a personal best of 45.94m. "Hammer throwers were solid," commented head coach
Rick Cummins.
Junior
Anne Okonowski (Dearborn, Mich. / Divine Child) did not finish the 10k having to stop during mile 4 because of the warm and humid conditions.
Four school records fell on Friday, plus redshirt senior
Lauren Gagnon (Waterford, Mich. / Waterford Mott) recorded an NCAA provisional time of 17:19.77 in the 5k, while freshman
Jessie Kluz (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights / MMSTC) set a WSU record with an NCAA provisional height of 1.70m (5-07.00) in the high jump.
Junior
Chelsea Johnson (Oxford, Mich.) recorded her second 5k provisional time completing the event in a time of 17:10.34.
Sophomore
Kierra Johnson (Flint, Mich. / Brandon) ran a 12.39 in the 100m, with classmate
Imani Bush (Canton, Ohio / South) recording her fastest time of the spring (12.69).
Freshman
Karrington Seals (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) eclipsed the previous WSU best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.70, while sophomore
Christina Kollien (Alpena, Mich.) had a personal best at 14.84.
Sophomore
Dazmonique Carr (Lawnside, N.J. / Haddon Heights) bettered the previous 400m time with a 57.29.
Sophomore
Leah Ellis (Battle Creek, Mich. / Central) recorded a personal best in the 400m hurdles (1:06.74), while Seals had a 1:07.39 in the first time she ran the event this spring.
In the 200m event, Bush had WSU's best time of the spring (25.78), with Johnson running a 26.21 in the first time she has competed in this event this spring.
Smade notched a personal best in two different events on Friday - the 1500m (4:39.30) and the 5k (18:18.31).
Sophomore
Callie Brower (Hopkins, Mich.) had a season-best in the long jump at 4.90m.
Results from the University of the Cumberlands Invitational in the hammer throw were not available.
