MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (10-10) played in its sixth consecutive GLIAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the Midland Community Tennis Center. Top-seeded Ferris State (17-5 / 47th nationally) won the match 5-1 to send WSU to Sunday's third-place match against Grand Valley State.
The lone victory of the match for the fourth-seeded Warriors came at No. 2 doubles where
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India) and
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) won 8-5.
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) and
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) were bested 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) and
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) were beat 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 2 singles, Charriere fell 6-1, 6-1 while Keating was edged at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-4. Menta lost his match at the third flight of singles 6-1, 6-2.
The Warriors will meet the Lakers on Sunday at 8:15 AM.
