Newspaper story about Chene Phillips to play in Germany.

"Chene is a point guard with all-round qualities," said Schalke 04 head coach Raphael Wilder.  "He can not only score, but also sets up his teammates and grabs rebounds. His game is calculate highly variable and difficult."  When reviewing the video footage Wilder fell particularly good about the defensive capabilities of the 1.88 meter tall point guard.  "He comes from a good college from a very strong Conference, which has already produced a lot of good players.  He was chosen twice to the All-Defensive Team. That basically says it all."

Wilder relied in player choice, however, not only on video.  "I was very impressed and we had a very long chat."

Phillips was not active last season, as he paused to finish his studies.

Worried about his fitness condition Wilder said "he has trained well and is in a top condition." Chene Phillips, who in his final season for the Wayne State Warriors averaged 15.3 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game.
