TOLEDO -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Division I opponent Toledo on Saturday evening at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- Sophomore Harvey Reed (Winchester, England / Peter Symonds College) and junior Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) lost, 6-3, to Stjepan Sisko and Luka Vitosevic at No. 1 doubles, while freshmen Nicholas Ang (Rochester, Mich.) and Taylor Vane (Southampton, England / Peter Symonds College) was defeated, 6-2, by Juan Carranza and Danilo Pejovic at the second doubles flight.
- Senior Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) and Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) fell to Serjen Olmedo and Vince Anzalone, 5-3, in an unfinished set.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Sophomore Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England / Priory) notched the lone point for WSU after defeating Reid Teatsorth, 6-2 (6-4, 3-6) at the fifth singles flight.
- Carlson fell to Stephen Miller, 7-5 (4-6, 6-4) at No. 4 singles, while Reed lost, 6-0 (4-6, 6-1) to Olmedo at the third single position.
- Vane was defeated in two sets (7-6, 6-4) at No. 2 singles, and Fazyl Kechai and Sammons fell at the first singles flight (6-2, 6-1) and the sixth singles spot (6-4, 6-4), respectively.
UP NEXT
- The Warriors will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on Division I opponent Western Michigan on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the West Hills Athletic Club.
