LANSING, Mich. – The Wayne State University women's cross country team earned a first place finish at the Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday, scoring 58 points at the 20-team event.
For the second straight week, junior
Jackie Feist (Beverly Hills, Mich. / Birmingham Groves) was No.2 overall in a meet, finishing with a time of 18:22.9. The event included GLIAC opponents Saginaw Valley State – which finished third (77 points), and
Lake Superior State – which finished eighth (268 points).
Three other Warriors – all freshmen – posted times in the top 20.
Emma Willett (Holgate, Ohio / Holgate) was not far behind Feist, clocking in with a time of 19:13.6 to finish seventh.
Gabbi Willett (Holgate, Ohio / Holgate was 12th (19:30.5), while
Kiersten Reeves (Ionia, Mich. / Ionia) was 19th (19:58.3).
RESULTS
-Senior
Haley Boccomino (Macomb, Mich. / Center Line) was 27th (20:09.8), while freshman
Julianna Manserra (Toronto, Ontario / Bishop Strachan) was right behind in 28th (20:11.8).
-Junior
Hannah Tas (Richmond, Mich. / Richmond) was 39th with a time of 20:36.0.
-Freshman
Lyndsey Braman (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) was 57th, coming in with a time of 21:03.3.
-Sophomore
Jayla Fleming (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Oak Park) finished the course with a time of 21:37.1, which placed her 73rd.
-Freshman
Ani Purcell (Riverview, Mich. / Riverview) 22:26.7 placed her in 95th.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will take a week off from competitive action before traveling to Marquette from the GLIAC Championships. The women's division will begin at 11 a.m.
