DETROIT -- After coming back to win in five sets at Grand Valley State on Wednesday night in the GLIAC Quarterfinal, the Wayne State University volleyball team (16-12) will meet at top-seeded and 20th-ranked Ferris State (21-7) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with a chance to play for GLIAC Championship on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Warriors trailed 17-12 in the fourth set at GVSU, with the Lakers holding onto a 2-1 match lead.  The deficit remained at five, 20-15, before a 5-0 run highlighted by an ace from Ellie Rodriguez (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Catholic Central) and a combo block by Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) and Madelyn Krenz (Chenoa, Ill. / Prairie Central) tied the set at 20-20.  Eventually, the set was tied at 25-25, before kills by Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) and Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) plus an ace from Richardson forced a fifth set as WSU won 28-26.

- In the fifth, set the Warriors led 8-6 after a GVSU error.  A Laker point tied the set at 9-9 before Wayne State won the final six points to win the game 15-9, including two kills from Krenz and two aces from Rodriguez.  All three matches with GVSU this season have gone to five sets, with the road team winning all three.

SERIES HISTORY
- Since 1994, Ferris State leads the series 22-10 with WSU's win in October snapping a six-match losing streak for Wayne State.  WSU is 5-22 on the road during that stretch.

POSTSEASON SUCCESS
- This was the second straight season WSU has qualified for the postseason and the 14th time in program history.  It was the first postseason victory for WSU since 2012 and just the third since joining the GLIAC.

HARD-HITTING HAILEY
- Hailey Richardson has put together another All-GLIAC caliber season.  She ranks fourth in the league with 345 kills and 3/56 kills per set.  The outside hitter 13 tallied double-doubles, including five straight to end the regular season. She ranked fifth in the league with 35 service aces.  In a five-set victory in September at Grand Valley State, she posted a career-high 24 kills on her way to earning GLIAC South Division Play of the Week on Sept. 25th. She finished second on the team with 286 digs (2.95/set) and also has 19 total blocks.

- On Wednesday, she was outstanding once again, leading the Warriors with 24 kills and 21 digs, while hitting .328 on 61 total swings.

RECORD HOLDER
- Senior Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) broke the program record for hitting percentage last season, by hitting .353.  This season she is hitting .368, which ranks fourth in the league.

WSU LEADER
- Head coach Tim Koth is in his fourth season and continues to build Wayne State into a league and regional contender.  Koth has won 56 matches in his time in Detroit.  In 2016, the 19 wins were the most overall wins for the volleyball program since 2009 and the 10 league victories were the most since 2012.  Wayne State also just missed another milestone, which was being ranked for the first time since 1997.
