The Wayne State University cheerleading team is set to host tryouts April 29th from 10:00am-2:00pm in the Matthaei Athletic Complex located on the athletic campus. Any participant interested in attending tryouts should complete the online registration form located here: https://goo.gl/forms/SrK0VXno0qHVn8yw2

All participants must also provide a physical within the last 90 days. There will be no athletes permitted to tryout without a copy of your physical (dated within the last 90 days). All physicals must be submitted and approved by April 27th. Participants will not be permitted to tryout if a physical is not presented and approved prior to the audition date. Physicals will not be accepted on the day of the tryout. Please see below for physical submission information.

In the fall, our team cheers at all home football games, select volleyball game and a number of campus and off campus events. During the winter, the team cheers at all home men's and women's basketball games. Please note that being a member of the team is a year-long commitment, participants are expected to maintain their position on the team during the fall and winter semesters along with participate in summer camp and potentially the NCA competition in the spring.

Tryouts: 10:00AM- 2:00PM

WHAT TO WEAR FOR TRYOUTS:

• Females: game day hair and makeup with bow, black sports bra/fitted tank with spandex shorts and cheer shoes. No piercings or jewelry.
• Males: Wayne State t-shirt or plain white shirt w/dark shorts and athletic shoes. No piercings or jewelry.

WHAT TO BRING:
A photo yourself (no larger than 4x6)
WSU acceptance letter or transcript (if a transfer student)
Complete the online registration form. (link above)

FEMALE REQUIREMENTS
Standing back handspring
Standing back handspring series (multiples or ending in a tuck or higher)
Standing back tuck (preferred)
Toe Touch back handspring or tuck
Advanced stunting
Single/double twist cradles from arabesque or heel stretch
Ability to perform in multiple positions

MALE REQUIREMENTS
Standing back handspring or back tuck
Tumbling pass (ending in a tuck or better)
Basic coed stunting ability
Tryouts are held on a seven panel cheer floor. No spring floor or spots will be available.

*All portions of tryouts are closed to the public; only applicants, coaching staff, and WUS athletic department staff will be permitted.
