Cheerleading Program Wins Bid to Nationals

LOUISVILLE -- The Wayne State University cheerleading program took home a paid bid to the NCA College Nationals last week at the University of Louisville camp. It's the first paid bid the program has won in its history.

The team finished first with its rally routine in the small coed division, first with its gameday crowd routine in the small coed division and then won the run-off segment against all the top team in each division for its gameday crowd segment.

The Warriors collected a gold paid bid, which only six teams received out of the 22 teams at the camp. The team is comprised of 37 total student-athletes, including 20 newcomers and 17 returners.

The NCA College Nationals take place in Daytona Beach, Fla. on April 8-12.
