DETROIT – The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team won 14 events Friday night, defeating GLIAC opponent Saginaw Valley State 169-120 at the Matthaei Natatorium.
Junior
Dima Drobnych broke a pool record in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 49.68.
RELAYS
In the 200 medley relay, the team of junior
Dima Drobnych, sophomore
Sasha Palazzo, junior
Rasmus Olsen and senior
Tyler Roshak earned a top time of 1:32.58.
INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS
Sophomore Leo de Oliveria won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:37.15.
Freshman
Ryan Katulski earned the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.14, as well as the 50 free (21.24) and the 100 free (47.54).
Palazzo was a winner in the 100 breaststroke (56.34) and the 200 breaststroke (2:04.82).
Olsen claimed the 200 butterfly (1:54.59) and the 100 butterfly (50.97).
Senior
Khayman Jones claimed the 1-meter diving event (276.75) and the 3-meter event (263.59).
Drobnych was also a winner in the 200 backstroke (1:54.32).
Sophomore Joao Ribeiro was a winner in the 200 IM in 1:55.80.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
In the 200 butterfly, Ribeiro was second with a time of 1:56.15.
Roshak was the runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 21.84, as well as the 100 free (47.59).
Sophomore
Nate Michna was second in 1-meter diving (245.29).
