DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team won 12 events on Friday night, defeating GLIAC opponent Saginaw Valley State 178-116 at the Matthaei Natatorium.
RELAYS
In the 200 medley relay, sophomore
Emily Marginean, freshman
Jia Yi Koh, freshman
Haley Groteler and junior
Lezlie Bueno Estrada earned the top spot with a time of 1:47.77
INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS
Freshman
Hannah Davenport was a winner in the 1650 free with a time of 17:26.47. That was also good enough for an NCAA B Cut time.
Fellow Freshman
Meghan Lamb was the top finisher in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.79.
In the 100 back, sophomore
Ashlen Michalski earned an event best time of 59.57.
Groteler was a champion in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.92, as well as the 100 butterfly (57.06).
Freshman
Jia Yi Koh was a winner in the 100 breaststoke with a time of 1:05.68 and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.19).
Bueno Estrada took the 50 free in 24.23 and the 100 free (52.86).
Sophomore
Mia Teifer won the 1-meter diving (276.52) and freshman
Amanda Hurchalla won 3-meter diving (279.45).
In the 500 free, Lamb finished in 5:25.80 for second place.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Junior
Ellie Dean was second in the 1650 free behind Davenport, clocking in at 18:22.96.
Sophomore
Aliza Durack was also bested only by a teammate, coming in behind Lamb in the 200 free (1:59.55).
Hurchalla was second in the 1-meter diving event (276.10), and Teifer was second in the 3-meter diving (270.55). Freshman
Emma Von Holtz (269.32) earned an NCAA pre-qualifying score.
