Karrington Seals (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) has been named a nominee for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award. Seals is one of 131 nominees from NCAA Division II, with 581 student-athletes being nominated from all three divisions.
This past season she was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team after being selected to the All-District First Team and was a GLIAC Commissioner's award recipient for her work in both the classroom and on the track. Seals was WSU's nominee for the 2017-18 Coach John Wooden Citizenship Cup. Seals earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors after placing 10th at the NCAA Indoor Championships (8.55) and was an All-Region honoree in the 60m hurdles (8.53). She won the GLIAC title in the 60m hurdles (8.53) for the second consecutive season and was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.
Seals also posted a successful outdoor season. She earned First Team All-America accolades after placing sixth in the finals of the 100m hurdles in a school record time of 13.59 and had the fourth-fastest time in the prelims (13.60). Seals was the lone Warrior selected for the NCAA Championships and earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 100 hurdles (13.74m) after being named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team. For her career, she earned six athletic All-American certificates.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program, established in 1991, honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. The nominees will be paired down to 10 from each division, then three from each division, and the Committee on Women's Athletics then selects the winner from the nine finalists.
All 30 Woman of the Year honorees will be recognized, and the 2018 Woman of the Year announced, at an awards dinner at the Westin Indianapolis on Sunday, Oct. 28.
