Men's Swimming and Diving Signs Six for 2020-21

DETROIT -- Wayne State University swimming and diving head coach Sean Peters and his staff have announced that six student-athletes will be added to the 2020-21 roster.

The incoming freshmen include swimmers Adam Carozza (Novi, Mich.), Collin Che (Midland, Mich. / Dow), Brody Jamieson (Farmington, Mich.), Marko Vucelic (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) and Michael Wolsek (Trenton, Mich.), along with diver Alex Brent (Lake Orion, Mich.).

Alex Brent // Lake Orion, Mich. (Lake Orion)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Lake Orion High School ... was the No. 2 seed for the 2020 MHSAA Division 1 state meet for the one-meter diving event before COVID-19 cancelled the championships ... finished second at the 2020 Regional meet with a finals score of 422.70 ... won the 2017 Oakland County diving championships, then won the regional championship before placing second at the MHSAA Division 1 state meet with a finals score of 416.55 ... selected to the Oakland County Dream Team as a freshman ... set the LOHS varsity and pool record ... received All-American accolades as a freshman ... placed third at the MISCA meet as a freshman ... won the 2020 Oakland County diving championship with a score of 461.05.

Adam Carozza // Novi, Mich. (Novi)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Novi High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats ... finished third in the 100 free (47.18) and fourth in the 50 free at the 2020 Oakland County Championship ... was scheduled to compete in the 2020 MHSAA Division 1 state meet in the 50 free (fifth seed), 100 free (sixth seed), 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 200 medley relay before COVID-19 ... placed eighth in the 50 free (21.54 / 21.16 prelims) at the 2019 MHSAA Division 1 state meet ... tied-for-12th in the 100 free and swam the leadoff leg on both the 12th-place 400 free relay and 13th-place 200 free relay as a junior ... received the Team Leadership Award ... earned Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) All-Academic recognition ... competed in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 IM at the 2019 USA Futures Championships in Greensboro ... swam both the 50 free and 100 free at the 2018 state meet.

Collin Che // Midland, Mich. (Dow)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Midland Dow High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for the Chargers and coach Gary Strickler ... was scheduled to compete at the 2020 MHSAA Division 2 state meet as the No. 1 seed for 100 fly (50.08) and the second-seed in the 50 free ... scheduled to lead-off the top-ranked 200 free relay and the second-seeded 400 free relay ... finished third at the 2019 MHSAA Division 2 state meet in both the 50 free (20.85) and 100 free (46.13 prelims) ... led off the state championship 200 free relay and the third place 400 free relay ... earned All-Saginaw Valley League  honors ... also lettered three years in cross country ... received Academic Honors all four years ... served as a the swimming team captain as a senior.

Brody Jamieson // Farmington, Mich. (Farmington)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Farmington High School ... was a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Falcons ... served two years as a team captain for coach Drew Hansz ... qualified for the 2020 MHSAA Division 2 state meet in the 200 medley relay (lead-off for No. 2 seed), 50 free (third seed), 100 free (top seed), 200 free relay (lead-off for No. 2 seed), and 400 free relay (lead-off for top seed) ... won the 100 free (45.73) at the 2020 Oakland Activities Association Red Division league meet, while placing second in the 50 free (21.01) ... part of the champion 400 free relay at the 2020 Oakland County championships ... finished fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free at the 2019 MHSAA Division 1 meet ... swam anchor on the state champion 200 free relay as a junior, and lead-off on the fourth-place 400 free relay ... took first in both the 50 free and 100 free at the 2019 Oakland County championships, while also being a part of the champion 200 free relay and 400 free relay ... received 2018 All-American honors by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association ... placed 13th at the 2018 MHSAA Division 1 state meet in the 50 free and 16th in the 100 back ... swam lead-off on both the third-place 400 free relay and the fourth-place 200 free relay as a sophomore ... competed at the MHSAA Division 1 state meet in 2017 - was the top freshman in the 100 back, and swam lead-off on the 10th-place 400 free relay ... also played lacrosse ... earned Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Marko Vucelic // Wixom, Mich. (Walled Lake Western)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Walled Lake Western High School ... was a three-year letterwinner for the Warriors (only swam club as a senior in 2019-20) ... competed for former WSU All-American swimmer Jayson Hansen (2012-16) ... won the consolation finals of both the 200 free and 500 free at the 2019 MHSAA Division 1 state meet in a time of 1:44.03 and 4:40.20, respectively ... swam the second leg of the 400 free which finished seventh and the 200 free relay which placed 11th in 2019 ... swam the 200 free and 500 free at the 2018 state meet, as well as both relays ... participated in the 500 free at the 2017 state meet ... finished sixth at the 2019 Speedo Champions Series in Cleveland in the 1500 L free (16:33.80) ... placed eighth at the 2020 Michigan Open in the 400 L free (4:19.35) ... served as a team captain ... received Lakes Valley Scholar Athlete honors.

Michael Wolsek // Trenton, Mich. (Trenton)
High School:  Will be a 2020 graduate of Trenton High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for the Trojans and coach Jimmy DeRupa ... was scheduled to compete at the 2020 MHSAA Division 3 state meet in the 100 fly (No. 1 seed), 50 free (second seed), 200 medley relay (fourth seed) and 400 free relay (fourth seed) ... finished second in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 free at the 2019 MHSAA Division 3 state meet ... was a part of two relays in 2019 - 200 medley relay (fifth) and 400 free relay (12th) ... placed fourth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 100 free at the 2018 MHSAA Division 3 state meet ... set THS varsity records in 50 free, 100 free and 200 free as well as 100 fly ... was a four-time All-Downriver League selection ...  served as a team captain as a senior ... was the fifth seed for the 2018 Michigan Boys 100 LC Meter Butterfly for the Trenton Swim Club ... was also seeded for the 50 free (seventh), 100 free (11th) and 200 free ... was a member of the National Honor Society.
