UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field squad began its 2020-21 campaign on Friday at the SVSU Jet's Pizza Invitational.
PROVISIONAL MARK
Sophomore
Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) won the prelims in the 60m dash in a provisional time of 7.66, which was also a personal-best.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Junior
Aliyah McDonald (Kingston, Jamaica) won the prelims in the 60m hurdles in a time of 9.04, while freshman
Abigail Dunn (Northville, Mich.) finished fifth by clocking in at 10.51.
Sophomore
Morgan Witzgall (Auburn, Mich. / Bay City Western) was third in the long jump at 4.90m, while freshman
Mikaela Owen (Bridgman, Mich.) tied-for-fourth at a distance of 4.79m. Witzgall's mark came on her first attempt.
Junior
Yasmine Affes (Northville, Mich.) placed fifth in the 60m dash prelims in a time of 8.28.
Junior
Kaleigh Flowers (Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Kentwood) led a quartet of Warrior throwers in the weight throw by placing fifth at a distance of 15.06m. Her best toss came on her sixth and final throw.
Senior
Maddie Schmoker (Kellogg, Minn. / Wabasha-Kellogg) was seventh (14.69m).
Just behind Schmoker were junior
Izzy Taylor (Three Rivers, Mich.) at 13.73m and freshman
Kaylee Price (Brownsburg, Ind.) at 12.15m.
