Women's Golf Finishes Second in Fall Season Finale

Avery Howard was also the individual runner-up.

AUGUSTA, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's golf team finished its fall season on Sunday with a second-place finish at the Panther Invitational hosted by Davenport. The two-day event was played at Stonehedge North Golf Club (Par 72 / 5,829 Yards). The Warriors shot a 615 (308, 307).

LEADING THE WAY
Grand Valley State completed its wire-to-wire victory by carding a 598 (296, 302). GVSU also boasted the top individual as Kay Zubkus shot a 149 (74, 75). WSU's top performer was Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) who tallied a 151 (76, 75), tying for second, two strokes behind the leader.

THE FIELD
Behind the Lakers anf the Warriors in the 11-team field were Ferris State (625), Lewis (627), Northern Michigan (627) and Gannon (646).

WSU RESULTS
Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain), Daniela Moreno (Bogota, Colombia) and Grace Zimmerman (Bruce Twp., Mich. / Almont) all tied-for-12th. Vestman posted a 155 (80, 75), while Moreno paired rounds of 77 and 78. Zimmerman followed a 75 with an 80.

Natalie Groom (Orangevale, Calif. / El Camino Fundamental) rounded out the starting five with a 168 (89, 79).

Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) competed as an individual and shot a 166 (83, 83).
