Men's Tennis Finishes Third at GLIAC Championships

WSU defeats Purdue Northwest, 4-1.

Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. -- The No. 3-seeded Wayne State University men's tennis team (8-8 overall) won the third-place match, 4-1, against No. 4-seeded Purdue Northwest (9-7 overall) on Sunday morning at the Midland Tennis Center.  WSU went 8-5 against Division 2 competition in this shortened season.
 
DOUBLES RESULTS
 
Freshman Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) and junior Donovan Nguyen (Shelby Township, Mich. / Utica) won their No. 2 doubles match, 6-3.
 
At No. 1 doubles, sophomores Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) and Dom Spicer (London, England) fell 7-6(2).
 
Sophomore Ryan Okonski (Stevensville, Mich. / St. Joseph) and freshman Joe Steele (Beverly Hills, Mich.) lost at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
 
SINGLES RESULTS
 
At No. 3 singles, Laws won 6-4, 6-2.
 
Freshman David Pluszczyk (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) won his No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-3.
 
At No. 5 singles, Nguyen won 6-3, 6-4.
 
Spicer won his No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6)
