Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Signs Three Student-Athletes

Sarah Greb, Rachel Felstow and Avery Wilson will join the WSU program this fall.

DETROIT --  Wayne State University head cross country and track & field coach Grant Lofdahl, along with assistant coaches Nate Miller and Eric Hansen, announced the signing of three student-athletes for the women's cross country, and track & field programs for the 2022-23 academic year.

Joining the Warriors for cross country and track & field will be Sarah Greb (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) and Rachel Felstow (Leonard, Mich. / Romeo), while Avery Wilson (Davison, Mich.) will participate in track & field. 

RACHEL FELSTOW, 5-9, DISTANCE RUNNER, LEONARD, MICH. / ROMEO

High School:  Will be a 2022 graduate of Romeo High School ... was a four-year cross country letterwinner for coach Mike Buslepp, a former WSU letterwinner ... helped the Bulldogs to three league titles, four county championships, back-to-back regional titles in 2019 and 2020, and three top-eight team finishes at the state meet ... earned All-Macomb Area Conference and All-Macomb County accolades all four years ... received All-Region recognition in 2019 and 2020 ... competed all four years at the MHSAA Division 1 state cross country meet ... was a three-time Academic All-State honoree ... served as a cross country team captain as a senior ... earned two letters in track so far (since the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID) ... participated in the 800m race (8th in a time of 2:17.30) and 4x800m relay at the 2021 MHSAA Division 1 state track meet ... ran the second leg of the eighth-place 4x800m relay at the 2019 state track meet.

Personal:  Full name--Rachel L. Felstow ... born on October 31, 2004, in Detroit ... daughter of Donald and Stacey Felstow ... is a triplet with Emily and Amanda ... has a younger brother, Joshua ... plans to major in Pre-Med ... last name is pronounced FELS-toe.

"Rachel is an exceptional middle distance runner.  She's run very competitively at every distance from 400 meters to the 5K, with her greatest success so far coming in the 800.  We believe that she'll be a very solid cross country runner at the next level, and she has hardly scratched the surface of her potential in the middle distances in track."

High School:  Will be a 2022 graduate of Romeo High School ... earned four varsity letters in cross country for the Bulldogs and coach Mike Buslepp, a former WSU letterwinner ... helped RHS to four county titles and two regional championships ... earned Macomb Area Conference (MAC) Red Division honors all four years ... won the 2021 Macomb County meet in a time of 21:18.6 ... posted a season-best time of 19:59.6 at the 2021 MHSAA Division 1 state cross country meet ... competed at the state cross country meet all four seasons ... was a three-time All-County and two-time All-Region honoree ... served as a cross country team captain as a senior ... earned two letters in track (2019 and 2021, since the 2020 season was canceled) ... ran the second leg of the 4x800m relay at the 2021 MHSAA Division 1 state track meet ... participated in the 3200m race at the 2019 MHSAA Regional meet ... garnered Academic honors from the MAC, as well as All-County, All-Region and All-State Academic recognition ... received the Medical Pathway Honors Award as well as the English Honors Award.

Aaron competed in cross country for two years (2019-2020) at Macomb Community College, and finished 19th at the 2020 MCCAA/Region XII Championship ... he also completed the 2019 Boston Marathon ... Megan participated in cross country and track at Madonna for three years (2016-19) ... plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.

"Sarah is a hard worker who comes from a great family.  She has competed at a high level for the outstanding Romeo program for four years, and we feel that she has good potential at the collegiate 6K cross country distance as well as at longer distances on the track."

AVERY WILSON - 5-4, SPRINTS, DAVISON, MICH. 

High School:  Will be a 2022 graduate of Davison High School ... will be a three-year (2019, 2021 and 2022) letterwinner for the Cardinals and coach Michael Crongeyer since the 2020 season was canceled ... posted a career-best time of 26.69 for 200m and 58.97 for 400m ... ran anchor on the school record 4x100m relay ... participated at the 2021 MHSAA Division 1 state track meet in the 400m and 4x100m relay, after running in the 4x100m relay as a freshman in 2019 ... also competed in cross country for two years and soccer for one season ... received Honorable Mention All-Saginaw Valley League recognition in cross country as a senior, and Second Team All-SVL as a junior in soccer ... served as a team captain in both cross country and track ... earned High Honor Roll accolades all four years ... is a member of the National Honor Society ... garnered Academic All-SVL recognition in cross country (twice) and soccer (once).

Personal:  Full name--Avery P. Wilson ... born on September 11, 2004, in Grand Blanc ... daughter of Cory and Jennifer Wilson ... has an older brother, Ty, and two sisters, Alexis and Harper ... plans to major in Exercise Science.

"Avery has worked to become a strong sprinter in the open events and the relays.  Over her career, even with losing out on her sophomore year, she has continued to develop and improve in her events.  I'm confident she will be able to bolster our long sprinters group and contribute in the 4x400m relay and 400m in her opening year.  Avery is a great addition to our team on the track and also in the classroom as she is an excellent student."
