Men's Cross Country Places Fifth at Warrior Challenge

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's cross country team hosted the Warrior Challenge earlier today at Willow Metropark, and the Warriors finished fifth.

The top five teams were: Northwood (59 points), Edinboro (73 points), Parkside (81 points), Michigan Tech (107 points) and WSU (113 points).

Leading the way for Wayne State was Ransom Allen (Ithaca, Mich.), who won the event for a second consecutive year.  Allen crossed the finish line in a time of 24:53.9.

Following him was Tyler Buchanan (Fenton, Mich. / Linden), who finished fifth with a time of 25:17.8.  After Buchanan, Adam Hafeli (Lake Orion, Mich.) was the next Warrior across the finish line, as he collected 28th place with a time of 26:13.7.

Rounding out the scoring lineup were Jack Wilson (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) and Nico Trevino (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage).  Wilson placed 41st with a time of 26:29.4, while Trevino finished in 43rd place with a time of 26:33.4.

FROM COACH LOFDAHL

"Very rough day out there for the Warrior men. We're struggling with some things right now, and we know that we'll be better than this for GLIACs in two weeks. There were certainly some positives, especially Ransom making a nice win over a tough field look pretty easy. Tyler fought through a rough stretch in the middle of the race and closed really well, and Adam keeps on getting better each meet. Jack Wallace had a very solid race as well. We will re-focus and be ready to turn things around as we start our championship meets."

UP NEXT
The Warriors will get set to host the GLIAC Championships at Willow Metropark on Nov. 4.  The women's race will begin at 11 AM, with the men's race beginning at 11:45 AM.
