Men's Cross Country Finishes Third At Lucian Rosa Invite

WSU places four runners in the top 20.

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Wayne State University men's cross country team was ranked 17mth nationally entering Saturday's Lucian Rosa Invite and did not disappoint finishing third out of 12 schools.  The Invite was held on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, which will also be the site of the NCAA Midwest Regional meet next month.

TEAM STANDINGS
Colorado-Colorado Springs, who was ranked 15th in the nation this week, won the meet with 44 points.  Host Parkside finished second with 76 points, while Wayne State was third with 81 points.  Trailing the Warriors were Cedarville (84 points), Minnesota State (128), Tiffin (161), Indianapolis (190), Southwest Baptist (234), Hillsdale (239), Missouri-St. Louis (239), Maryville (293), and Lake Superior State (387).

LEADING THE WARRIORS
Redshirt junior Ransom Allen (Ithaca, Mich.) finished second in a time of 24:48.72, less than nine seconds behind the winner Afewerki Zeru of Colorado-Colorado Springs (24:39.78).

Redshirt sophomore Tyler Buchanan (Fenton, Mich. / Linden) placed 12th (25:38.19), while graduate student Antonio Chapa (Portage, Ind.) finished 19th (25:54.63).

Redshirt senior Nico Trevino (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) was 20th (25:59.31) with redshirt sophomore Jack Wilson (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) rounding out the scorers placing 28th in a time of 26:13.83.

Also finishing strong for WSU were freshman Adam Hafeli (Lake Orion, Mich.), who finished 32nd (26:20.64), redshirt senior Zahid Salodawala (Romeoville, Ill. / Plainfield East), who placed 48th (26:38.70), and redshirt junior Jeremy Cavallo (Davsiburg, Mich. / Clarkston), who finished 49th (26:39.72).

UP NEXT
WSU will be idle next weekend before hosting the Warrior Challenge on Saturday, October 22nd at Willow Metropark in New Boston, which will also be the site of the 2022 GLIAC Championship meet on Friday, November 4th.
