The Warriors will play at Northwood on Monday night.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball program (3-13, 2-11 GLIAC) continued to play well the second time through the GLIAC schedule but fell 67-65 at Saginaw Valley State (14-7, 8-5 GLIAC) on Thursday night. WSU had two attempts to force overtime at the end of regulation but could not get the two points it needed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
WSU scored the first seven points of the night capped by a layup by David Hughes (Southfield, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy) at the 17:35 mark.  Ray Williams, Jr. (Detroit, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy) connected from deep with 16:37 to play to push the Warriors' lead to 10-2.  The Cardinals took advantage of a scoring drought by the Green & Gold and tied the game at 13-13 on a Delano Smith three-pointer.  Hughes scored another two points to tie the game at 17-17 with 6:57 to play before halftime.  A free throw from Nate Talbot (Lake Orion, Mich.) kept the score deadlocked, 21-21, at the 3:42 mark  A dunk from Mike Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Ann Arbor Huron) made it 23-23 with 2:57 to play but SVSU took a 25-23 lead into halftime.

Darian Owens-White (Detroit, Mich. / River Rouge) slowed a hot start by the Cards to begin the second half with a layup, trimming the home lead to 32-29 at the 17:03 mark.  Saginaw Valley State seemed to answer every WSU bucket but a 12-foot jumper from Williams brought the Warriors within two, 36-34, with 14:20 left.  WSU was unable to tie the game as Hughes made one of his two shots at the charity strip, making it 36-35.  WSU regained its first lead, 40-39, since the five-minute mark of the opening stanza on a triple by Owens-White at the 10:53 mark.  Owens-White continued to carry the load for WSU and his driving layup with 9;14 remaining put WSU on top 44-43.  A long-range jumper from Antonio Marshall (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King) pushed the advantage out to four, 49-45, at the 7:10 mark.  A basket by Tre Garrett gave SVSU a 52-51 lead, which they would not relinquish, with just over five minutes left.  Brailen Neely (Detroit, Mich. / Western International) ended a nearly five-minute scoring drought to make it 60-55 Cardinals with 2:12 to play.  Marshall connected on all three free throws after being fouled behind the arc, to bring the Green & Gold within three, 64-61, at the 46-second mark.  A bucket by Owens-White kept Wayne State close, 65-63, with 30 seconds remaining.  Saginaw Valley State turned the ball over leading 67-65 with 11 seconds to play.  Avery Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) missed a jumper and Williams was unable to convert as time expired after he grabbed an offensive rebound,
