McDonald, Sumrall and Williams Compete in Texas

Sumrall breaks own school record in 100m dash.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Two members of the Wayne State University women's track and field squad made their outdoor season debuts Friday morning at the Texas Relays.

Junior Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) tied-for-15th in the 100m dash with a school record time of 11.80 (11.792), which was an NCAA Division 2 Provisional mark.

Senior Aliyah McDonald (Kingston, Jamaica) placed 50th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.79.

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Junior Mikayla Williams (St. Charles, Mich.), along with McDonald and Sumrall, competed at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Williams finished 33rd in the long jump with a best mark of 5.13m.

Both Sumrall and McDonald competed in the 200m dash. Sumrall posted the second-fastest time in school history (24.77), just .02 off of Dazmonique Carr's mark of 24.75 set on April 23, 2016, at the GVSU Al Owens Classic. Sumrall finished 14th, while McDonald was 37th clocking in at 25.42.

UP NEXT
Williams will compete in the both high jump and triple jump on Saturday (3/26) at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, while McDonald will participate in both the 100m hurdles and 100m dash. Sumrall will also take part in the 100m dash.

The rest of the Warrior squad will be competing at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open.
