The Warriors beat GVSU three times this season, two of which were for championships.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (23-4 overall) is headed to Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. for the Round of 16 after defeating Grand Valley State (17-6 overall) 4-0 in the Midwest Region Championship Tuesday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy.  The NCAA will be reseeding the field after the last 15 teams have been finalized.

SINGLES
The Warriors were strong in singles, collecting three two-set wins before the Lakers could get any momentum.  Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) started things off with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 spot of the lineup.

Following him, Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) posted an impressive 6-3, 7-6 (5) win at No. 5 singles.  Drenth was down 1-4 in the second set before winning in a tiebreaker.

To clinch the match, Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) was able to defeat his opponent, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.  Karcz is WSU's all-time leader in singles wins.

Dom Spicer (London, England), Ben Lakeman (Penzance Cornwall, England) and Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) had their matches abandoned due to the Warriors already clinching the contest.

DOUBLES
WSU came out with great energy in doubles and ended up gaining the crucial doubles point.  Spicer and Laws were terrific at the No. 2 spot, earning a 6-3 victory.

Lakeman and Karcz clinched the doubles point for the Green and Gold by defeating their opponents, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles.

Drenth and Grey were tied 4-4 in their match at the top spot before having it abandoned.
