Women's Golf Makes Appearance in First Set of Regional Rankings

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's golf team is featured in the first set of regional rankings as announced on March 17th. Seventeen programs are featured, but listed in alphabetical order for the first installment. March 31, two weeks from Friday, the squads will be ranked accordingly.

Regional advisory committees will recommend regional selections to the Division II Women's Golf Committee. Four, 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the participants in the championships finals. Fifteen (15) teams in the east, nine (9) teams in the central, and twelve (12) teams in the south and west regions; along with six individuals, not on those teams, will compete at regionals. The low six (6) teams in the east, the low five (5) teams in the south, the low four (4) teams in the west and the low three (3) teams in the central regional; along with the low two (2) individuals, not on those teams from each regional, will advance to the finals. Tiebreakers and playoffs will be used to determine team and individual champions and advancement to the finals. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition and all national championships policies will apply.

The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Missouri-St. Louis at Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, Mo. on May 16-20. Selections for the NCAA Regionals will be announced on May 1. The Warriors have competed at the NCAA Regionals each of the last four seasons (2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022) it was held. The 2022-23 academic year is WSU's ninth sponsoring women's golf.
