GLIAC -- Antonio Marshall (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King), redshirt senior of the Wayne State University men's basketball team, was named Second Team All-GLIAC by the league's coaches on Friday afternoon. Marshall played in 19 games with 18 starts ,while averaging a career-high 14.7 points per game, a number that's good for a tie for 10th in the conference.
Not only did Marshall lead the Warriors in scoring, both total points and points per outing, but also three-point field goal percentage (.369), three-pointers made (45-of-122), blocks (12) and steals (30). The Martin Luther King product played a total of 611 minutes, 32.2 per contest, shot .427 percent from the field (100-of-234), and .723 percent at the free throw line (34-of-47). The 6-4 sharpshooter finished with 10 or more points in all but four games, 15 or more in nine of them and 20 or more in four.
Three of those four 20-point performances came in a row when Marshall poured in 24 at Grand Valley State on Jan. 12, 36 at Davenport on Jan. 14 (tied for eighth most in program history) and then 21 against Lake Superior State on Jan. 19. Following the first of those two efforts, Marshall was named GLIAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Jan. 16.
