Four Men's Basketball Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-GLIAC Recognition

Jackson, Ross, Talbot and Williams, Jr. honored for their work in the classroom.

DETROIT -- Four members of the 2022-23 Wayne State University men's basketball program were recognized with GLIAC All-Academic honors. WSU's men's basketball squad has had 36 GLIAC All-Academic recipients over the last eight years.

Redshirt freshman Justin Ross (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) was the lone representative on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50. Ross, who was first-year eligible, is majoring in Exercise and Sport Science.

Earning a spot on the GLIAC All-Academic Team (cumulative GPA 3.0-3.49) were graduate student Cortez Jackson (Detroit, Mich. / St. Clair Shores Lake Shore [Henry Ford CC]), senior Nate Talbot (Lake Orion, Mich.) and junior Ray Williams, Jr. (Detroit, Mich. / Edison Public School Academy).

Jackson previously received a bachelor's degree in Finance and is currently working on a master's degree in Sports Administration. Talbot will be graduating next month with a degree in Global Supply Chain Management. Williams, Jr. is an Engineering major.

Jackson was recognized both years eligible after transferring to WSU, while Talbot was honored for the third consecutive year. Williams, Jr. has earned GLIAC All-Academic accolades both years eligible.

True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible.
