INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (7-5 overall) battled seventh-ranked University of Indianapolis (9-1 overall) for the second time this spring season on Saturday evening, and the Greyhounds defeated the Warriors for the second time, 7-0, at the UIndy Tennis Center.

DOUBLES
Indianapolis grabbed the doubles point by winning all three matches by the same 6-3 margin.

Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) and Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) fell at the No. 1 doubles spot, while the pairing of Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) and Dom Spicer (London, England) dropped the decision at the No. 2 spot.

Joe Kelt (Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England) and Denali Kitayama (West Bloomfield Township, Mich.) comprised of the duo in the third and final doubles spot for the evening.

SINGLES
The Greyhounds went on to nab all six singles matches, giving WSU its first shut-out defeat since February 24, 2021, at Western Michigan.

Drenth fell in straight sets from the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 7-5.

Grey also lost in straight sets, with the junior being defeated by 6-4, 6-2 scores.

Matching 6-4 decisions proved to be the downfall of Spicer over Louis Picaud at the No. 3 spot, while his doubles partner Laws played at the No. 5 spot and lost, 7-5, 6-1 to Thomas Mathis.

Likewise, Kelt also was defeated in straight sets (6-0, 7-5) from the No. 6 spot.

Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) and Nikolaj Talimaa played the closest match of the evening, with the Indianapolis player claiming the first set (6-1) and the Warrior responding with a second set triumph (6-2). The third set required a tiebreaker after being even at 6-6, and Karcz fell in the extra session by a 10-7 score to drop the decision.
