DETROIT -- The Wayne State University Department of Athletics recognizes March as National Athletic Training Month (NATM).

Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.  Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.

The 2023 NATM slogan is "There's An AT For That" in recognition of the various settings where athletic trainers work and the multitude of injuries and illnesses they can diagnose and treat.  Athletic trainers can be found working in hospitals, physician offices, and physical therapy clinics, with the military or with law enforcement agencies, in both the industrial setting and with the performing arts, as well as in high schools, colleges, and professional sports settings.  No matter where you are and no matter what ails you, there's an AT for that!

The Warrior Sports Medicine Department is currently comprised of seven certified athletic trainers who work with the 400+ student athletes that make up WSU's 18 athletic teams.  Tune in throughout the month as we highlight our Warrior athletic trainers and help shine a spotlight on the athletic training profession.
