DETROIT -- Wayne State University head men's tennis coach Bryan Morrow has announced the signing of a pair of newcomers.  Joining the Warriors this fall will be freshman Benjamin Hill (Düren, Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany) and graduate transfer AJ Duggan (Saginaw, Mich.).

Benjamin Hill, 6-1, 178, Düren, Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium
High School:  A 2021 graduate of Burgau-Gymnasium in Düren.
 
Personal:  Full name -- Benjamin Hill ... born on November 12, 2003, in Düren, Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany ... son of Hermann and Svetlana Hill ... has an older brother, Robert ... plans to major in Sport Management.

Coach Bryan Morrow on Benjamin Hill:  "Benjamin and AJ bring excitement to our program.  Starting with Benjamin, we've had such great luck recruiting out of Germany and he's no exception.  We expect great things from him.  He's a very mature young man with a very solid game.  I'm very excited to watch him grow and develop as a Warrior.  I think he has all the tools to be a really strong player for our program.  He brings a great attitude and is excited to be here."

AJ Duggan, 5-10, 160, Saginaw, Mich. / Freeland (University of Alabama Huntsville)
2019-23:  Attended the University of Alabama Huntsville earning an Industrial and Systems Engineering degree on a full academic scholarship ... was unable to play sports due to an injury suffered in high school ... resumed playing tennis in 2022.

High School:  A 2019 graduate of Freeland High School ... played soccer all four years as a prep (two at Darlington Soccer Academy in Rome, Ga.; one at Spain Park High School in Birmingham, Ala.; and one at Freeland High School) ... served as a soccer team captain as a senior ... totaled 31 goals and 38 assists in 2018 to earn MLive Saginaw Player of the Year honors ... also competed in track as a senior.

Personal:  Full name -- Anderson J. Duggan ... born on June 14, 2001, in Saginaw ... son of Jim and Stephanie Duggan ... father played soccer at Michigan State, and mother played field hockey at Hope ... has a younger brother, Steve, and an older sister, Danielle ... Steve plays soccer at Ohio Northern ... currently pursing an MBA at WSU ... last name is pronounced Dug-in.

Coach Bryan Morrow on AJ Duggan:  "AJ is a local kid from Saginaw with some ties to Detroit.  He's a grad student so a bit older, but very mature as well.  He's a hard worker that'll add depth to our team and bring excitement to each and every practice.  I'm very excited for the team as a whole and am looking forward to the upcoming season."

The WSU men's tennis program and 16th-year head coach Bryan Morrow will begin their 2023-24 campaign on Sept. 22-24 in Toledo, Ohio, at the Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational.
