DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team competed in its first home meet of 2024 on Saturday afternoon inside the Matthaei Natatorium. The Warriors posted a 151-85 victory over fellow GLIAC member Saginaw Valley State, a squad that was also receiving votes in the latest College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll.
The Green and Gold had a winning individual or team in 11 of the 13 women's events on Saturday. Also of note,
Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru achieved an NCAA cut for six dives on the one-meter board thanks to a score of 262.50. Wadsworth-Curcuru had already captured an NCAA cut for 11 dives at one meter.
"The Warriors came out of the exam, holiday and winter training period, and really performed well," said head coach
Sean Peters. "The thing that really stuck out to me was that both programs really faced some adversity this week and rose above it with spirit, camaraderie and strength. I am really proud of them, and it was a wonderful meet this weekend!"
"I was really impressed with our divers, Mikaela and Wen, as well as some of our swimmers that either won or dropped significant times," Peters added. "Normally that does not happen after such a training period, but it was great to see. Overall though, I was very impressed with all our Warriors."
