FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's golf team wrapped up a two-day stay at Findlay's William Beall Fall Classic on Tuesday in a tie-for-eighth place. The Warriors shot a three-round score of 913 (+49, 310-303-300) and were paced individually by
Claudia Portillo (Madrid, Spain / IES Ortega y Gassett) in a deadlock for seventh thanks to a 218 (+2, 76-71-71). Portillo has been WSU's top finisher in three of four tournaments so far this season, all of which were top-10 showings, including her Medalist Honor at the inaugural Warrior Invitational.

Team wise, the host Oilers led the way by 12 strokes at six over. After Findlay, the top five consisted of Missouri-St. Louis (+18), Lynn (+33), Tiffin (+35), Ashland (+41) and Findlay "B" (+41). Lynn's Amelia Ruiz garnered Medalist Honors at two under. Then came Lisa Marie Schumacher of Tiffin (-1), Mary Kelly Mulcahy of Findlay "A" (E), Avery Thompson of Findlay "B" (+1), Juliette Lecomte of UMSL (+1) and Hayley Dye of Findlay "A" (+1).
Next up on the schedule for the Warriors is their final tournament of the fall, the Davenport Panther Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 12-13. The event will be played at the home of the 2025 GLIAC Championships, Stonehedge North Golf Course in Augusta, Mich. WSU won this tournament last season in the 12-team field while
Beca Vestman (2020-24) stood atop the individual leaderboard.
