Wayne State Athletics Academic Success Rate Improves To 80 Percent

DETROIT -- The NCAA national office recently released the 2024 Division II federal graduation rate and Academic Success Rate (ASR) data.  This release focused on the Division II ASR aggregate and institutional-level data, which includes a sport-by-sport breakdown of the ASR.

Thirteen (13) of WSU's 16 sports (women's cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field are counted as one sport) had an ASR of at least 75.

"At Wayne State, we are deeply committed to graduating champions, and our student-athletes embody this mission every day," shared WSU Director of Athletics Erika Wallace.  "Their dedication to excellence is a testament to their character and commitment.  None of this would be possible without our exceptional support staff, whose efforts help our Warriors succeed far beyond their years here."

WSU FACTS:

For the 2016-17 cohort, WSU's student-athlete Academic Success Rate (ASR) is 80 percent, an increase of two percent from the previous year.

In addition, WSU's overall FGR score of 73 tied-for-second among current GLIAC members.

Women's golf, men's golf, and women's tennis all had a 100 percent ASR for those entering in 2016-17.

Volleyball (94 ASR), softball (90 ASR), and baseball (88 ASR) were the next three WSU sports, followed by women's fencing (87), women's cross country/track & field (85), women's swimming/diving (82), men's tennis (80), women's basketball (78), and men's cross country (75).

Football's FGR was second in the GLIAC, with the men's basketball FGR ranking fourth in the conference.
