Track & Field Program To Host Event Specific Clinics

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University Track & Field, and Cross Country programs will host three days of clinics in June (24-25-26) from 9 a.m. until noon each day.

Check-in will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 8:55 a.m. at the Lowell Blanchard Track at Tom Adams Field.

Ages Welcome:  Those entering 8th through 12th grade in the Fall of 2024.

CLINICS
Learn the skills, drills, and ideas that collegiate Track & Field athletes receive at WSU.

Come and be challenged by learning new training techniques with less time on what you already know!

Each event will be given the full attention of the coaching staff during the three-hour period.

DATES
Day 1 (June 24th) - Sprint Events, Shot Put, Distance

Day 2 (June 25th) - 400m/800m, Long Jump/High Jump, Discus

Day 3 (June 26th) - Hurdles, Hammer/Javelin

Schedule of events per day: 
Introduction and sorting campers into respective groups each day from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

The day will start with an appropriate warm-up for said events.

Introductory work with drills and basic concepts from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

More concentrated training for their specific event from 10:30 a.m. until Noon.

These clinics are intended for young developing Track and Field athletes of all disciplines and event groups.  To learn the skills, drills, and ideas necessary to improve in the sport.  Everything that our athletes at Wayne State experience and are taught.

Cost:  $65 per person per day
