Klaus and Forsyth of Men's Tennis Wrap First Day of ITA Cup

ROME, Ga. -- Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia) and Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany) of the Wayne State University men's tennis team competed in the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup on Thursday afternoon.

Klaus and Forsyth earned an at-large bid to the ITA Cup after an impressive showing during the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, posting a 4-1 ledger and a runner-up finish.

The WSU pairing was matched with Soeren Grandke and Mathys Pinoit of Azusa Pacific University in the first round of the tournament.  The Wayne State student-athletes started strong, claiming a 5-2 lead in the first set before the APU duo rallied back to nab the set 7-5.  Klaus and Forsyth battled in the second set, but fell 6-4.

UP NEXT
The Green and Gold Duo will compete in the consolation bracket of the tournament, facing the University of Texas at Tyler's Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel on Friday, October 17, at 3:30 PM.
