Giroux and Dulgar Once Again Honored by GLIAC for Previous Week's Performances

The senior and junior each received the league's weekly distinction for a third instance this fall.

DETROIT -- Fearsome duo, Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.) and Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View), of the Wayne State University volleyball team were once again honored by the GLIAC on Monday afternoon.  Giroux, Offensive Player of the Week, and Dulgar, Setter of the Week, received those respective distinctions for the third time this season and sixth instance in their careers.

Last week, Giroux hit .419 with 33 kills (3.67 per set) and only seven errors on 62 total attacks.  Defensively, the veteran middle blocker totaled 13 blocks, seven of which were solo, or 1.44 per set.  Her teammate Dulgar racked up 89 assists (9.89 per set), eight kills (.533 hitting percentage), nine aces, 17 digs and three block assists.  Among those nine aces came a career-high six aces on Friday at Michigan Tech.

As a team, Wayne State won at Michigan Tech for the first time since 2016 before the first road sweep of MTU and Northern Michigan since that same season.  That victory over the Huskies marked the Warriors' 15th of the season, their most in a single campaign since 2022.  With Saturday's thrilling five-set defeat of the Wildcats, WSU improved to 4-0 in five-set matches after going 1-11 in the last two seasons combined.

Giroux, Dulgar and their teammates will be back home this week to host Ferris State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Davenport on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
